550 Cord, is it the best tool in your Survival Kit?

Wed Aug 20 2008
Many say that 550 cord is about the most usefull thing to have in a survival kit. It can be used for building shelter, starting fire, catching food and repairs among endless other uses. Rope has always been useful, and nylon 550 cord improvements make it very adaptable. It is also very common and easy to find at low cost.

550 cord is available in many colors and qualities, so when shopping for it make sure you buy the kind rated forr 550 pounds and not the decrotive (Chinese) kind

A few simple tools will help with 550 cord projects; scissors, surgical clamp, lighter and an awl (not pictured)

I keep larger lengths of cord in a medium size bag and the smaller lengths in a small zippered pouch so they are easy to find. We use Red and Orange 550 cord for zipper ties on first aid kits and other safety / first aid gear

Back in 1980, a simple Texan began a singular quest. He searched high and low seeking the best that a hamburger could be. He hungered for perfection in an imperfect world. All he found were warmed-over compromises between bland slices of bread. The burger culture had sullied an American institution.

Then in the still of a sultry summer night, a voice spoke to him, “Let them build it and they will come.” While he wasn’t exactly sure what the message meant—and there were no follow-up communications—the Texan did the only thing he knew to do.

Finding mediocrity unacceptable, he took a wrong and made it right. He took the frozen and made it fresh. He built his own burger and his own burger place right in the heart of San Antonio, Texas. And then because the man had a sense of humor, he named this place Fuddruckers.

Over twenty-five years later, we at Fuddruckers still hold true to our simple recipe and values: 100% USDA fresh ground beef, buns made from scratch every morning and throughout the day, and farm-fresh produce and all the other fabulous “fixins” that make your hamburger truly yours….because there are no shortcuts to perfection.

Today, Fuddruckers stands as a shrine to the Burger Arts—and the only place in the world where you can find the “World’s Greatest Hamburgers”. In fact, a CitySearch™ poll has called Fuddruckers “America’s Best” in cities across the nation.

Come see us, won’t you? What began more than 25 years ago as one Texan’s fresh idea has gone on to make the World a Burger Place.
