This is another one hand webbing cutter from Benchmade. The 7 Hook is designed to cut safely through jackets, tubular webbing, leather boots, Kevlar, seat-belts, and para-cords among other materials. It's shape and design let the user pull to cut and the blade is protected so only the intended items are cut. This compact webbing cutter has a fitted sheath designed to hold the 7 Hook securely while still offering quick access to the knife. A well made and easy to use tool

The compact Sparkie Fire Starter from Ultimate Survival Technologies. This is a clever one hand use self contained flint and steel fire starter. We were recently given the opportunity to review these fire starters and these are the initial photographs we took before using them. These are just over two inches when closed and have a solid loop for attaching a lanyard or keyring. These are available in either orange or tan color with black trim.

We made two slings (for throwing rocks) out of 550 cord. We found the idea and instructions on the EDC Forum. Both of these were easy to assemble. The tan version uses two cords, the black one was made from just one length of 550 cord. The tan two cord version is larger and longer, but either can be made larger or smaller.

The always useful 550 cord (parachute cord) has many uses and will continue to have more. It's been around for many years (since WW2) and continues to be an important and useful tool. 550 cord is a Kernmantle rope which is a rope constructed with its interior core (the kern) protected with a woven exterior sheath (mantle) This design provides strength, durability, and flexibility.
